WHERE WE GO?
The excavation site is in Eastern Wyoming in a region called the Lance Formation. We are located halfway between Lusk, WY and New Castle, SD. The nearest airport is in Rapid City, SD.
WHAT IS THE COST?
The one-week expedition is
$850 per adult, $650 for youth.
This includes meals and transportation while in the field, as well as ranch fees.

Home of the future EAST WYOMING SCIENCE CENTER, this Leap Lab site is a base camp for our annual DINO EXTINCTION EXPEDITION collecting dinosaurs in the badlands of Niobrara Co. Hundreds of guest crew, ranging from 4 years old to 84, have joined us since 1996 for a week in the field to learn how natural history and the science of extinction events provide convincing evidence that preserving biodiversity and habitat today is essential to staving off the 6th extinction.

EASTERN WYOMING SCIENCE CENTER
Our new facility in Lusk, Wyoming will become the future home of the “Eastern Wyoming Science Center”. Located in Niobrara County, the region is home to world-class dinosaur discoveries. Since the late 1800’s the world’s museums have come here to extract fossils, but none have remained in the county – until now.
Leap Lab Wyoming will be “base camp” for annual expeditions to collect dinosaur skeletons for the Eastern Wyoming Science Center and Leap Lab sites across the US. People that join us a crew will learn the skills needed to discover, excavate and correctly curate fossil collections.
More importantly, the expeditions focus on natural history, past and present, and the impact of the mass extinction that wiped out dinosaurs and 70% of everything else. What do the previous 5 mass extinctions tell us about the 6th extinction we’re entering now?
Leap Lab Wyoming is where students and educators, families and the public, from across the US can experience a deep dive into natural history in the context of modern ecology.
